Tinkering Scool
Watching the tinkering school video really made me think about how amazing kids can be when they are given an opportunity. Most kids around the world, including the U.S, don’t have the opportunity to use tools, build things, and really use their imagination. Instead of doing material projects as in building things, most kids these days are accustomed to watching television and playing video games. For a lot of kids, building tree forts and building model cars are totally blocked out by video games and new technology. What I liked most about the video is the goal of the tinkering school. To my understanding, the goal of the school is to give the children a taste of accomplishment. After making bridges, roller coasters, and boats, I know the kids realized that they can accomplish much more than they thought. Another goal of the school is to show people that kids should be given a chance and that kids can be trusted. It amazed me to see kids working with hammers, nails, and power tools. It was really cool for me to see the boat and the roller coaster that the kids made. It made me think, “would I even be able to build a roller coaster out of wood?” I believe that these tinkering schools can create great opportunities for children and should be put into place throughout the world.

I also said the same thing about technology these days overpowering kids going outside and doing hands-on projects. I think there should be places throughout the world like Tinkering School for children to visit too. Many kids would definiitely go to these creative camps.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing how kids think and how their imaginations works. I could just sit and watch my little cousin, how he is so little and how he can catch on to things. I agree that alot of kids dont have the change to use their imagination. When your stuck in school you don't get to use you imagination your overloaded stuffed with boring stuff.
ReplyDeleteI think it's sad that parents these days will let their kids just watch tv and not encourage them to get out and use their imaginations and build things. I babysat my cousins a lot this summer, and most of the time we spent watching tv because there's no place in their house to do crafts or anything. If we wanted to play with playdoh we had to go out on the driveway so it wouldn't get on the carpet or anything.
